Elvis manda un telegramma a June Juanico, per chiederle di incontrarsi, durante una breve fermata a New Orleans. E’ in questa occasione che June gli fa sapere che si è fidanzata e si sposerà. Elvis arriva a Memphis alle 23.15

Agli American Studios, la band inizia a sovraincidere la parte strumentale e corale, ma senza Elvis, su canzoni incise precedentemente sempre negli stessi studi.

Sia la stampa che i fans descrivono questo opening show, con un Elvis di buon umore, rilassato e in buona forma fisica, pur se scherza sul suo peso e non fa le abituali mosse di karate.
