Lavorando solo con il suo gruppo dei Voice, come backup singers, fino alle 7 del mattino, Elvis cerca di fare quattro master, tra cui “Fairytale” delle Pointer Sisters (suggeritagli da Linda) e “And I Love You So” di Don McLean, che in studio Elvis dedica a Sheila.

Allo show di mezzanotte è presente anche Barbra Streisand, insieme al suo compagno, il parrucchiere John Peters.
Dopo lo spettacolo la Streisand va a trovare Elvis nel backstage, per offrirgli un ruolo da protagonista nel suo prossimo film “E’ nata una stella”, che è un remake di un classico di Hollywood e che, secondo il programma attuale, verrà prodotto e diretto da Peters (nonostante una sua unica esperienza precedente che poi si è dimostrata un fiasco)
Elvis si dimostra molto entusiasta del progetto.
Nei giorni successivi, però il Colonnello scoraggia il progetto completamente, disquisendo su chi avrà il controllo sul film, quanto verrà pagato e soprattutto, fino a che punto il coinvolgimento di Peters potrebbe avere degli effetti sulla carriera di Elvis per come verrà presentato e diretto.
Il progetto andrà a monte, perché Parker pretenderà un compenso esorbitante.
Il film vincerà un Oscar come miglior canzone, per “Evergreen” di Streisand/Williams nel 1976 e il Grammy Award nel 1977

Il concerto di chiusura del tour di Las Vegas si conclude con una battaglia d’acqua tra i musicisti e i cantanti. La baldoria arriva al suo culmine quando Lamar Fike e il Colonnello arrivano sul palco vestiti da Babbo Natale

Elvis lascia Las Vegas in aereo diretto a Los Angeles.
La società di produzione della Streisand, First Artist, in collaborazione con la Warner Brothers, fa la sua formale offerta ad Elvis offrendogli uno stipendio $ 500.000 e il 10% dei profitti, ma senza alcun compenso per la parte musicale. In compenso ad Elvis e il Colonnello, però, viene offerto di produrre i due concerti live che ci sono nel film e trarne profitto da questi.

Con 10 giorni di ritardo, tramite l’agenzia di William Morris, arriva la risposta del colonnello all’offerta di Barbra Streisand che ha questi termini: per fare il Film, Elvis deve avere un compenso di $ 1.000.000, più $ 100.000 per le spese e il 50% dei profitti, nonché l’approvazione di qualsiasi canzone che dovrà cantare. Inoltre dovrà essere fatta una trattativa separata per negoziare i diritti sulla colonna sonora. Nella lettera al Roger Davis, l’avvocato della William Morris, il Colonnello scrive “Mr. Presley vorrebbe fare questo film, ma io l’ho messo in guardia di non permettere che questo suo desiderio porti ad una trattativa sotto costo”.
Alla fine del mese c’è qualche patema a riguardo del film, visto che l’interesse di Elvis è diminuito e la First Artist sembra non abbia mai fatto alcuna controproposta

Sognando di crearsi una flotta aerea, al prezzo di $ 250.000, Elvis acquista un jet Corvair 880, messo in disuso dalla Delta Airlines. L’acquisto dell’aereo verrà ufficializzato l’11 giugno e si chiamerà Lisa Marie. A Forth Wood, Texas, verrà totalmente rimesso a nuovo e i lavori costeranno altri $ 500.000.

Nonostante il Colonnello abbia già organizzato un immediato ritorno di Elvis a fare concerti negli stadi, tutti gli altri sono più preoccupati per i loro soldi. Dal canto suo Elvis non ha nessuna intenzione di modificare le sue abitudini di spendere mentre, dall’altra parte, il Colonnello non intende modificare il suo modo di spendere soldi, al gioco d’azzardo.
Oggi il Colonnello scrive a Pat Kellner della RCA Record Tours per far abbassare i costi dei tour e scrive: “Deve esserci un maggior controllo sui costi degli hotels, dei pullmans, dei camion e delle limousines, in modo da evitare spese doppie”.
Tornato a casa, Elvis va spesso al General Cinema di Whitheaven, per vedere “The Day Of The Locust” e “The Four Muskeeters”

Sul palco, tra Elvis e Kathy Westmoreland, continuano le tensioni, che già avevano avuto inizio nel tour precedente. Infatti sia a Cleveland che a Uniondale, durante le presentazioni, quando presenta Kathy aggiunge:”Lei riesce a farsi amare da chiunque. In qualsiasi posto e in qualsiasi momento”.
Kathy esprime le sue lamentele con Tom Diskin. La reazione di Elvis alla lamentela è quanto mai prevedibile e, in questo concerto ulteriori commenti, fanno sì che Kathy Westmoreland e anche due delle Sweet Inspiration abbandonino lo stage, lasciando sul palco solo Myrna Smith che, per il resto dello show, rimane l’unica corista femminile

Dopo una serie di regali (il gioielliere personale di Elvis, Lowell Hays è nel tour) e un’infinità di scuse da parte di Elvis, le Sweet Inspirations tornano sul palco, mentre Kathy Westmoreland si rifiuta di andarci
(La sera prima erano state offese anche le Sweet Inspirations delle quali, in uno dei suoi monologhi, aveva detto che avevano l'alito che puzzava di pesce (Elvis odiava il pesce)
Quando, poi presentò Kathy Westmoreland disse "Non ha importanza con chi può divertirsi....... lei si fa amare da chiunque, in qualsiasi momento e in qualunque posto". Joe riferì ad Elvis che Kathy si era offesa e quindi, nel concerto di oggi, aggiunge "Questa è Kathy Westmoreland. E' il nostro soprano, ma non le piace come la presento. Se non le piace, può anche andare al diavolo e uscire dal palco".
Quindi Kathy abbandonò il palco e così fecero pure due delle Sweet, che si misero a piangere.
Sul palco, rimase solo Myrna Smith a cui Elvis regalò un anello (che inizialmente lei rifiutò) per riconoscenza alla sua fedeltà.
P.S. Volevo precisare che Elvis non era assolutamente razzista (fatti e foto lo dimostrano), e lui pensava di essere scherzoso e divertente, ma evidentemente quella sera era piuttosto "fuori di testa". Già dopo dieci minuti si è pentito del suo atteggiamento e costernato ha cercato di rimediare a modo suo, cioè facendo regali a destra e sinistra!!!)

Il concerto che doveva essere fatto questa sera, all’Hilton Hotel Las Vegas, Nevada, viene cancellato, insieme agli altri ulteriori 35, previsti in questo ingaggio.
L’Hilton di Las Vegas diffonde un comunicato in cui dice “Su disposizioni del suo medico, la parte restante di questo ingaggio di Elvis Presley è stato cancellato. La decisione è stata presa a causa di condizioni di salute precarie per eccessivo affaticamento, accentuatosi nelle ultime settimane. Il Sig. Presley è stato prontamente ricoverato all’ospedale di Memphis per accertamenti e riposo. I medici non ritengono ci siano motivi di allarmismo, ma tutto questo viene fatto a scopo preventivo”.

Elvis è ricoverato in ospedale non solo per stanchezza, ma soprattutto, come dichiarato dal Dr. Nick, perché il suo stato depressivo sta aumentando, oltre ad altri problemi quali la cronicità dei suoi problemi intestinali e di gonfiore, un ”fegato grasso” e colesterolo molto alto.
Quando viene dimesso, Marian Cocke, l’infermiera che l’ha seguito durante tutta la degenza, accetta di seguirlo anche a casa alternandosi con Tish Hensley, un’altra infermiera del Dr. Nick, in modo tale che Elvis sia tenuto costantemente sotto controllo.
Per ringraziarla delle attenzioni che l’infermiera gli riserva, Elvis regala a Marian Cocke una Pontiac Grand Prix, facendo in modo di fargliela trovare nel parcheggio dell’ospedale.

Elvis ha degli obblighi contrattuali con la RCA e, per rispettarli, il Colonnello presenta varie proposte, tra cui una raccolta di tracce dai film, uno album speciale per i bambini , con una raccolta di canzoni che Elvis ha già fatto e che sono adatte a loro e che, come ultimo brano, include una versione di “Happy Birthday” da incidere.
Dal momento che la RCA non ha ancora dato alcun riscontro entusiasta alle sue proposte, il Colonnello va alla RCA con un telegramma di Elvis che, visti i termini usati, ha tutta l’apparenza di essergli stato letteralmente dettato da Parker. Il telegramma dice: “Vorrei lavorare su un album che possa uscire all’inizio del 1976, dove farei una combinazione particolare, in parte, composta da alcuni miei concerti live a Las Vegas, durante il mio ingaggio dal 2 al 15 dicembre. Questo, aggiunto a nuovo materiale, darebbe un sapore diverso e molto migliore. Cordiali saluti Elvis”. Dalla RCA non arriva nessun riscontro a questo telegramma.
Milo High porta la zia Delta e Mike Mc Gregor a Boston, per prendere il cane cinese di Elvis Get Lo, che da quasi 3 mesi si trovava nell’ospedale veterinario New England Institute for Comparative Medicine

Per 5 shows, Elvis riceve dall’Hilton $ 53.571,41, ma il Colonnello paga i musicisti e i cantanti per l’intero ingaggio che avrebbe dovuto essere di 2 settimane.

Il concerto di Pontiac, MI batte tutti i records di incasso. Sono stati venduti tutti i 60.000 posti, dando vita il più grande pubblico che un solista abbia mai avuto per un suo concerto. Lo show fa incassare oltre $800.000, che risulta essere la più grossa somma mai guadagnata da un artista solista, in un’unica serata. Però lo show non è esente da problemi. Infatti Elvis riceve una minaccia di morte ed è necessario munirsi di alta sicurezza. Durante lo spettacolo, non succede niente, pur se viene arrestato un uomo in possesso di una pistola. Comunque il concerto non è un gran trionfo. Fa molto freddo, la qualità del suono è piuttosto scadente e questo crea grande sconforto ai musicisti. Come se non bastasse, all’inizio dello spettacolo i pantaloni di Elvis si strappano e, a detta di tutti, Elvis non è al massimo della forma.
Nonostante tutti questi problemi, Elvis e il Colonnello si portano a casa oltre $300.000 da dividere tra loro, dopo aver detratto le spese.
Dopo lo spettacolo Elvis e il suo entourage, oltre a Lisa Marie, Vernon, Linda Thompson, T.G. Sheppard e sua moglie, tornano a Memphis con il Lisa Marie, per celebrare l’arrivo del nuovo anno nella camera di Elvis, guardando vecchie cassette degli spettacoli "Monty Python".
