Per la prima volta da quando fa il manager di Elvis, il Colonnello esprime le sue riserve sulla qualità del film “Harum Scarum”, manifestando apertamente e duramente le sue critiche sull’incoerenza del film e mettendo quasi in discussione anche se stesso per essere stato d’accordo sulla velocità di produzione del film. “Per vendere questo film, ci vorrebbe il 55° cugino di P.T. Barnum” dichiara il Colonnello, asserendo che, probabilmente, la miglior cosa è “prenotarlo subito, prendere i soldi e poi tentare di nuovo”. Un mese più tardi, Parker suggerisce persino di aggiungere un cammello parlante che racconta la storia, così la ridicolaggine del film sembrerà ancora più intenzionale.
