Elvis guida fino a Las Vegas, dove intende passare il weekend. Perde $ 10.000 giocando a dadi e poi va a vedere lo spettacolo di Billy Ward e i suoi Dominos, Della Reeds e Red Skelton

Elvis arriva allo Studio B della RCA di Nashville, per registrare il nuovo materiale per i singoli. Tuttavia la session inizia con tre canzoni che verranno pubblicate nel 1962, nell’album “Pot Luck” , tra cui anche la canzone “That’s Someone You’ll Never Forget” sulla quale Elvis ha volontariamente messo il suo nome. Infatti questa canzone è stata scritta da Red West su suggerimento di Elvis, che la canta dandole un grande peso emozionale. Le altre canzoni sono due brani scritti da Doc Pomus e Mort Shuman e cioè “Marie (is the Name) of His Latest Flame” “Kiss Me Quick” e “Little Sister” . La session termina alle prime ore del mattino, dando alla RCA la possibilità di pubblicare il nuovo singolo entro un mese

Dalle 10.00 alle 13.00, Elvis prova il segmento della parte informale e poi passa due ore con i ballerini e le Blossoms per la parte gospel dello show.
Dalle 15.00 alle 17.00, Elvis prova l’intera parte di “Guitar Man”.
Alle 18.15 Elvis tiene una conferenza stampa e quando gli viene chiesto come mai ora ha deciso di fare uno special televisivo, Elvis risponde “Abbiamo pensato che fosse arrivato il momento. D’altra parte ho pensato che era meglio farlo prima di diventare troppo vecchio”.
Elvis termina la sua giornata con una riunione con Steve Binder e i due autori.
